It is with the greatest excitement and delight that we announce the launch of the deeply moving, often life-changing Music of the Plants experience at the Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens.
Naren, Sono and Toby King from the Crystal Castle recently journeyed to northern Italy, to collaborate with the Federation of Damanhur in bringing to the Crystal Castle the Music of the Plants. Damanhur is an eco-spiritual community, famous for their Temples of Humankind and their research into plant communication.
What is Music of the Plants?
Music of the Plants is a form of expression, beauty and artistry like no other, a display of the innate intelligence of the plant kingdom.
After 40 years of research Damanhur was able to create a device that can read the biorhythms of plants and trees and transform these into beautiful sound. A device for the plant to use as an instrument.
“When the public first encounters a plant musician, they connect to nature in a way never imagined. The realization that plants and trees can actually produce music and interact in a unique and entertaining way is both moving and memorable for every audience.” said Tigrilla, Damanhur coordinator of Music of the Plants
“Contact with the intelligence of the plant world provides deeper insight into ourselves and the world around us. You will never forget the moment you are finally able to hear the invisible sounds of nature. It is a profound encounter that can only be truly understood once you have experienced it for yourself.”

It was a deeply enriching weekend at a special place as the community and the Gyuto Monks came together at the Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens to celebrate the second anniversary of the building of the World Peace Stupa, writes Candida Baker of Verandah Magazine.
“Noooo. It can’t be two years since the Gyuto Monks blessed the beautiful Kalachakra World Peace Stupa – can it?
Apparently it can be, and was, because some of the Crystal Castle’s most beloved friends, the Gyuto Monks of Tibet have just spent five days at the Crystal Castle and the Shambhala Gardens offering their heart-filled program of chanting, meditations and activities, in order to celebrate the Peace Stupa's second birthday on Saturday October 11, 2014.
For those of us who were there for the blessing of the site back in December 2010, with its beautiful indigenous ceremony and consecration by the Monks, watching the Stupa rise from its foundations to the eight-metre high glorious gold and blue monument it is today, has been an enriching experience. Before the Stupa existed on its large, naturally amphitheatre-styled space, the Crystal Castle and its gardens were still a special place – but the Stupa has brought with it, not just the presence of the monks, but a sense of spiritual peace even when they are not in residence. For me, the ritual of walking clockwise around the Stupa three times, turning the golden metal prayer wheels as I go, has an immediate calming effect, and I drop into a meditative state almost immediately. Naren and Sono and the Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens thank everyone who joined us and participated in this ancient custom and powerful ceremony for personal, regional and world transformation.

From Wednesday October 8th through Sunday October 12th the Gyuto monks will be offering a beautiful daily program of morning and afternoon chants, meditations and fun and enriching cultural activities.
During their stay the Gyuto Monks will be creating a number of large Mani Stones, which are round, flat stones inscribed across two rows with the syllables of the sacred Avalokiteshvara mantra, Om mani padme hum, carved in Tibetan script, and visitors will be invited to participate. On Sunday, the final day of their visit, these sacred stones will be placed around the Kalachakra World Peace Stupa, forming The Mani Way.
On Saturday 11th October we will celebrate the second birthday of the Kalachakra World Peace Stupa with Free Entry to the Crystal Castle for everyone, all day for this special community event.
The monks will perform a universal cleansing ceremony, Theng Khru Yol Khru. This puja to create peace energy and cleanse the Buddhafield will first take in the area the World Peace Stupa sits within, then widen to encompass everything from sea level to the skies. The monks will chant for approximately two hours including an invitation to the Buddhas to join with them in reciting the requisite prayers.
This is a unique opportunity to participate in an ancient custom and a powerful ceremony for personal, regional and world transformation.
We are delighted to announce that Costa Georgiadis, the very popular host of ABC Gardening Australia, will be visiting the Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens on Saturday 6th September. He will be giving a talk at 12.30pm in our organic vegie garden about Holistic Gardening, including organics, growing our own food, permaculture, the importance of a healthy soil, composting and worms, and there will be an opportunity for questions afterwards. After his talk he will join us for lunch in the Crystal Castle’s Lotus Café.
Costa is a Landscape Architect and an Environmental Educator, who has an all-consuming passion for plants and people, and believes in embracing and celebrating mother nature's cycles and seasons and nurturing her balance, beauty and bounty organically. His holistic approach is all about gardening the soil and the soul.
In his own words: “I really want to drive the importance that for everything we do we’ve got to ask one simple question: is my action building and supporting life or not? Am I eating food that’s going to make me more alive or am I eating processed dead food that’s been transported across the world using a lot of energy and then been infused with all sorts of chemicals to preserve it so that it supports an industry that’s very destructive? It doesn’t matter whether you’ve got six small pots, six square meters or 60 square metres, you can provide health changing nourishment for your body and soul by growing your own simple salad greens that are pretty much bullet proof.
Come and join us for this not-to-be-missed event!
