The Art of Listening for Children|Crystal Castle

The Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens are a quiet place full of nature’s magic. A place to listen for the sounds of nature, to relax and to lose yourself in the mesmerising details of the many fascinating crystals on display.

The Shambhala Gardens are filled with different sounds – the tinkle of water, native wildlife and birds calling, forest boughs swishing and Tibetan chimes singing in the breeze – just the kind of sounds that are not only calming, but could also have profound wellbeing benefits, especially for children.

What is the Art of Listening for Children?

The Art of Listening for Children is a practice that encourages kids to actively listen to their surroundings and engage with the sounds and noises they hear in their environment. It’s about teaching children to be more present and mindful, to appreciate the sounds around them, and to use their senses to connect with the world in a deeper way.

Through the Art of Listening, children can develop their ability to concentrate and focus, enhance their sensory perception and awareness, and develop a deeper appreciation for the world around them. It can also be a fun and engaging way for kids to learn about science and nature, as they explore the sounds of different animals and natural environments.

How you can practise at Crystal Castle

With this in mind, Crystal Castle has created a special Children’s Listening Game and we invite you to take your children on a magical quest.

Simply collect the activity sheet from our Welcome Hut to see how many sounds you can find, and how quietly you can listen for them.

In the spirit of soothing sounds, we also host daily Crystal Sound Healing in the Peace Dome at 12pm and 3pm.
