Squalo Canapa is an ambassador for Damanhur, Federation of Communities and a member of the community for over thirty years.
Condor Girasole is one of the original founders of Damanhur. He is currently one of the three Sages - or Wise Men - of Damanhur, and he guides the social and spiritual aspects of Damanhur along with the two other Sages. He is a spiritual healer and School of Meditation instructor, and he has organised courses for the School of Meditation all over the world for many years.
“Damanhur Federation of Communities is a United Nations award winning sustainable community of 1,000 men, women and children. It is located in a valley in the Piedmont region, close to the Swiss Alps, where there is a meeting of synchronic lines of energy circling the earth. Four of these lines cross here and create an energy vortex which is beneficial for healing on all levels. The people there are all very friendly, energetic and happy. The nine subterranean temples are residence for divine presence. Damanhur follows no particular religion and yet all religions are honoured – from Atlantis, Ancient Egypt, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, Native American Indian etc.”
Heart of Yoga Workshop
with Mark Whitwell
at the Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens
Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th March
9:30am to 4:30pm
After headlining Byron Spirit Festival, Mark Whitwell returns to the Crystal Castle for a two day workshop 'Developing a personal practice'
This workshop is a unique opportunity to work with one of the most experienced yoga teachers in the world to design your own personal yoga practice.
No matter what style of yoga you are currently practicing, you will be able incorporate the insights gleaned from this personal practice development to make your yoga more efficient, powerful, and safe.
You'll also learn to integrate breath, asana, and bandha as a seamless process and as you deepen into this understanding, personalised for you, you discover more completely that yoga is your direct connection with reality - an entirely abundant, regenerating, and nurturing power.
Everyone, from beginners to experienced practitioners, is invited to attend.
According to the great “teacher of our teachers” T. Krishnamacharya, yoga must be adapted to the individual, not the individual adapted to the style of yoga. For your yoga practice to be most fruitful, it must be in harmony with your body type, age, health, and even cultural background.

On Friday 23rd January 2015 a small group of Crystal Castle family and friends came together in a gentle rain, guided by Squalo Canapa, Representative of Damanhur Federation of Communities, to create the sacred Damanhur spiral.
900 bush rocks were lovingly passed from hand to hand to be placed by Squalo onto specially prepared ground, spiralling outwards from the majestic Smoky Quartz throne pictured above to the entrance gateway between monolithic Aventurine and Blue Quartz crystals.
On its completion, the spiral was sealed for 12 hours while a sacred ritual was performed at Damanhur to activate the spiral as a sacred portal linking the Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens with the Damanur community.
On the morning of Saturday 24th January the group came together again to participate in a final ritual, and then each of us walked the sacred spiral.
The moment of stepping into the spiral is a powerful moment of shifting energy, and the walk inwards to the centre a deep healing journey. For me, the journey back outwards from the centre after lying back on the Smoky Quartz throne and gazing up at the sky through the trees was just pure lightness and joy.
Walking the Damanhur Spiral truly is an unforgettable and transformative experience.

Saturday 24th, Sunday 25th & Monday 26th January
We are delighted to welcome Squalo Canapa, an ambassador for the Federation of Damanhur and a member of the community for over thirty years, who will be visiting the Crystal Castle on Saturday 24th, Sunday 25th and Monday 26th of January and will be giving fascinating talks about the Federation of Damanhur at 1pm on each of these days.
During his presentations Squalo will show a video of the amazing subterranean temples, which he helped to dig out of the mountain. Regarded as the 8th Wonder of the World, the Underground Temples of Damanhur are hand-dug, art-filled Temples of Humankind, which are like a large book of knowledge dedicated to universal spirituality. The images and symbols within the temples are said to awaken the sense of the sacred that is the fundamental inheritance of every human being. The artwork on these walls depicts the history of the world.
Squalo will also speak about the community, their artistic and creative pursuits and their research into healing and the music of the plants. Click here for more information.
Launching Saturday 29th November
and same time on Sunday 30th
~11:30am & 2:15pm~
Then continuing as a daily experience at 2:30pm
It is with the greatest excitement and delight that we announce the launch of the deeply moving, often life-changing Music of the Plants experience at the Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens.
Naren, Sono and Toby King from the Crystal Castle recently journeyed to northern Italy, to collaborate with the Federation of Damanhur in bringing to the Crystal Castle the Music of the Plants. Damanhur is an eco-spiritual community, famous for their Temples of Humankind and their research into plant communication.
What is Music of the Plants?
Music of the Plants is a form of expression, beauty and artistry like no other, a display of the innate intelligence of the plant kingdom.
After 40 years of research Damanhur was able to create a device that can read the biorhythms of plants and trees and transform these into beautiful sound. A device for the plant to use as an instrument.
“When the public first encounters a plant musician, they connect to nature in a way never imagined. The realization that plants and trees can actually produce music and interact in a unique and entertaining way is both moving and memorable for every audience.” said Tigrilla, Damanhur coordinator of Music of the Plants
“Contact with the intelligence of the plant world provides deeper insight into ourselves and the world around us. You will never forget the moment you are finally able to hear the invisible sounds of nature. It is a profound encounter that can only be truly understood once you have experienced it for yourself.”

We are delighted to announce that Costa Georgiadis, the very popular host of ABC Gardening Australia, will be visiting the Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens on Saturday 6th September. He will be giving a talk at 12.30pm in our organic vegie garden about Holistic Gardening, including organics, growing our own food, permaculture, the importance of a healthy soil, composting and worms, and there will be an opportunity for questions afterwards. After his talk he will join us for lunch in the Crystal Castle’s Lotus Café.
Costa is a Landscape Architect and an Environmental Educator, who has an all-consuming passion for plants and people, and believes in embracing and celebrating mother nature's cycles and seasons and nurturing her balance, beauty and bounty organically. His holistic approach is all about gardening the soil and the soul.
In his own words: “I really want to drive the importance that for everything we do we’ve got to ask one simple question: is my action building and supporting life or not? Am I eating food that’s going to make me more alive or am I eating processed dead food that’s been transported across the world using a lot of energy and then been infused with all sorts of chemicals to preserve it so that it supports an industry that’s very destructive? It doesn’t matter whether you’ve got six small pots, six square meters or 60 square metres, you can provide health changing nourishment for your body and soul by growing your own simple salad greens that are pretty much bullet proof.
Come and join us for this not-to-be-missed event!
