Day of the Dead 2015

Monday 26 October 2015

The 9th annual Day of the Dead celebration

will be held on Sunday 8th November

at Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens

Free entry to the Crystal Castle from 3.30pm on the day

The Natural Death Care Centre is delighted to be holding its annual Day of the Dead event at the Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens again this year. After such an extraordinary day last year, everyone who participated in the organisation from both sides feels it is perfect for this popular and meaningful local community event, now in its ninth year.

“We offer this event as part of our ongoing cultural change, to bring death, dying and loss back into our own hands and hearts. As individuals and as community we are all touched by loss, and we see the need for people to honour and remember those they have loved who have died, recently or a while ago, without the shock or the rawness of the funeral. We offer this day towards healing and acceptance. Death is the natural and sacred end of our lives, and those we love are always a part of our lives as they live on in our hearts.”

Ignite - Rebuild Nepal

Monday 27 July 2015

Crystal Castle owner Naren King and his film-maker son Toby have now landed in Nepal to help distribute money raised at our recent Rebuild Nepal benefit concert, with Toni Childs and friends. They are travelling with Toni, filmmaker and musician Mik Lavage and photographer Renae Saxby.

Click on the picture below to view Toby's first short video report and read more below about how your generous donations are helping ...

Naren says "It's hard to describe the situation here after only a few short days. Many people are traumatised from the disaster and the shocks continue. Late last night the great mother earth shuddered, with a 4.6 aftershock, epicentre here in Kathmandu, sending people running into the streets. A potent reminder of both the aliveness of the earth, and the destruction that can result...

Since arriving here in Kathmandu we have been meeting with different people and groups on the ground doing relief and rebuilding work. There are those we are calling Guerilla Volunteers, mostly people who found themselves in the middle of the earthquake disaster and stayed on to help. They have been mobilising together with Nepalis to do whatever they can.

Please join us on 30th May from 3pm to 7pm at the Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens

Rebuild Nepal Benefit Concert

with Toni Childs & Laura Targett + Special Guests.

Squalo Canapa is an ambassador for Damanhur, Federation of Communities and a member of the community for over thirty years.

Condor Girasole is one of the original founders of Damanhur. He is currently one of the three Sages - or Wise Men - of Damanhur, and he guides the social and spiritual aspects of Damanhur along with the two other Sages. He is a spiritual healer and School of Meditation instructor, and he has organised courses for the School of Meditation all over the world for many years.

“Damanhur Federation of Communities is a United Nations award winning sustainable community of 1,000 men, women and children. It is located in a valley in the Piedmont region, close to the Swiss Alps, where there is a meeting of synchronic lines of energy circling the earth. Four of these lines cross here and create an energy vortex which is beneficial for healing on all levels. The people there are all very friendly, energetic and happy. The nine subterranean temples are residence for divine presence. Damanhur follows no particular religion and yet all religions are honoured – from Atlantis, Ancient Egypt, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, Native American Indian etc.”

Heart of Yoga Workshop

with Mark Whitwell

at the Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens

Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th March

9:30am to 4:30pm

After headlining Byron Spirit Festival, Mark Whitwell returns to the Crystal Castle for a two day workshop 'Developing a personal practice'

This workshop is a unique opportunity to work with one of the most experienced yoga teachers in the world to design your own personal yoga practice.

No matter what style of yoga you are currently practicing, you will be able incorporate the insights gleaned from this personal practice development to make your yoga more efficient, powerful, and safe.

You'll also learn to integrate breath, asana, and bandha as a seamless process and as you deepen into this understanding, personalised for you, you discover more completely that yoga is your direct connection with reality - an entirely abundant, regenerating, and nurturing power.

Everyone, from beginners to experienced practitioners, is invited to attend.

According to the great “teacher of our teachers” T. Krishnamacharya, yoga must be adapted to the individual, not the individual adapted to the style of yoga. For your yoga practice to be most fruitful, it must be in harmony with your body type, age, health, and even cultural background.

The creation of The Damanhur Spiral

Saturday 31 January 2015

On Friday 23rd January 2015 a small group of Crystal Castle family and friends came together in a gentle rain, guided by Squalo Canapa, Representative of Damanhur Federation of Communities, to create the sacred Damanhur spiral.

900 bush rocks were lovingly passed from hand to hand to be placed by Squalo onto specially prepared ground, spiralling outwards from the majestic Smoky Quartz throne pictured above to the entrance gateway between monolithic Aventurine and Blue Quartz crystals.

On its completion, the spiral was sealed for 12 hours while a sacred ritual was performed at Damanhur to activate the spiral as a sacred portal linking the Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens with the Damanur community.

On the morning of Saturday 24th January the group came together again to participate in a final ritual, and then each of us walked the sacred spiral.

The moment of stepping into the spiral is a powerful moment of shifting energy, and the walk inwards to the centre a deep healing journey. For me, the journey back outwards from the centre after lying back on the Smoky Quartz throne and gazing up at the sky through the trees was just pure lightness and joy.

Walking the Damanhur Spiral truly is an unforgettable and transformative experience.
